The idea for the book came to me while working as a construction electrician. The project was a wastewater plant in the central valley of California, near my home at the time. The conditions were hot and dirty consisting of digging huge trenches, running an unbelievable amount of conduit, and roasting in the hot summer sun with no shade to shelter us. Our only relief was the crazy antics that seemed to lighten our burden.
So, as those crazy antics became an almost daily thing an idea began to form amongst the crew. During breaks and lunch, as we all sat under the only shade tree on the site, we started comparing some of the supervisors and on-site inspectors to characters in the Star Wars movie. Well, one thing led to another and an idea for a funny book was born. Being the only one with any writing skill, (I'm being generous here) I started jotting down the notes that would eventually turn into this book.
At first, the concept was called, "Hard Hat Daze, Honky-Tonk Knights" hinting at the near comatose state some construction workers live and work in, and the after-hours antics at the nearest pub. I eventually shortened the name to what it is now, "Hard Hat Dazed".
